UNSW has eight residential colleges. The colleges endeavour to create safe and secure student communities that foster a positive and rewarding learning environment. This supportive structure is built upon strong commitments to academic guidance and pastoral care. Each residential college is fully catered, providing all meals daily and a regular cleaning service. The provision of these services allows students to focus on their academic studies and participate actively in the life and activities of the colleges and the wider university community.
College students can also make the most of life in Sydney as a result of the college's premium locations. Situated on the UNSW campus or adjacent to the university, the colleges are close to some of Sydney's finest beaches, the CBD and Centennial Park. Each of these Sydney attractions are within walking distance of the campus or easily accessible by public transport.

Of the eight colleges at UNSW, three are managed by the university, (Basser, Baxter and Goldstein) with the remainder operating as independent entities. As a result, each college has its own unique ethos, community, culture and identity. Each college operates its own admissions process and selection criteria. Applications should be made to each college independently. Additional information, including details of the application process and when to apply can be found on the individual college websites.
